Governance Overview

Our Activities in Action

Civic Education and Election Monitoring

This is geared towards educating the populace to empower them and build their capacity for civic rights and responsibilities. They are also trained on how to monitor elections and report irregularities at polling units, thereby promoting free and fair elections.

Town Hall Meetings

We conduct town hall meetings across the 24 constituencies of Plateau State to bridge the gap between the electorates and their representatives to promote accountability and transparency by bringing elected members of the Plateau State House of Assembly and their constituents together to dialogue and seek the way forward; the meeting also allowed Members of the Plateau State House of Assembly to give an account of their stewardship.

Empowering Communities with the Voice to Demand Service Delivery

JDPC implemented a three-year pilot project in six target Local Government Areas in Plateau State aimed at improving citizens' participation in governance by participatory development of strategic plans for Jos North, Jos South, Pankshin, Kanke, Kanam, and Wase LGAs. Similarly, community Demand Charters were developed for project communities in Barkin Ladi and Mangu LGAs.

Advocating for Women's Inclusion in Decision-Making and Governance

JDPC over the years has built the confidence of women and adolescent girls for participation and representation in formal and informal decision-making structures.

Addressing Human Rights Issues

The Human Rights department is saddled with the responsibility of addressing all legal issues concerning the organization and also human rights issues brought before it, especially for women and girls. It operates a legal clinic and helps in either handling cases for indigent persons or refer the cases to the Chairman of the Human Rights Commission of the Archdiocese for appropriate action.

"Good governance and human rights are the foundation of a peaceful society."
